There is no doubt at all that the iPad Mini is a awesome piece of kit, with some really great features, but the one feature that I think kind of lacks is the Camera. Yes it has a 5 mega-pixel iSight camera boasting auto-focus and built-in face detection for up to 10 faces, but the feature that lags behind is the zoom function. Not denying that the zoom isn’t great, but I believe it could of been so much better. When you think about it, the iPad Mini was designed to be used on a daily basis just like your iPhone, so you would think that the camera would be used as much if not more than your iPhone. Whereas the bigger iPad has it uses at home or at work and I wouldn’t expect the camera zoom capability to be as good.

Anyway, enough of my mumble jumble, let’s talk about a awesome product that our friends at Photojojo have sent us. The Telephoto lens for the iPad Mini

Lets start with the packaging, I don’t know what it is or it might just be me, but when a product turns up and I see great packaging, I immediately know that whatever is inside is going to be awesome!

At the top right on the backpack you will see the threaded hole where your lens will sit, it really is as easy as threading the lens on the back plate and hook up your iPad Mini, not forgetting to wipe the lens with the cloth provided before you begin to take any photos.

Your now ready to shoot some video’s or take some photos that you thought that you would never be able to!

Below is a picture I took without the Telephoto lens attached, I’ve circled a car that I hope I can get a better picture once I’ve attached the lens.

WOWZER!!!!! That is impressive! You can see from the 1st picture how far away that car is, so being able to grab a picture like this is awesome!!!!

I’ve also used the camera to shoot some short videos and it works great! One thing I would mention is that you do need a steady hand when using the lens, or simply use a tripod.

If your worried about using the lens to try and focus don’t be, the iPad telephoto lens has a manual focusing ring to give you added control over its delightfully shallow depth of field.  it’s really easy just like a normal camera lens attachment. This all being said, it can be even worse if you have the new iPhone 5 or the iPad mini, as there seems still to be issues with manufacturers rolling out new stands for these 2 devices. I personally have been scouring the high streets as well as the worldwide web for something that will set my iPhone 5 apart from others when I have it on my desk at work, I don’t want a huge stand with cables running out of it, neither do I want a nasty plastic cheap lump. Fresh out of Cydia comes a real Jailbreak Tweak called: Message Send Percent

What I mean by a ‘Real’ Jailbreak tweak is that Jailbreaking is all about customizing your iDevice and making it your very own unique device to you! With Message Send Percent it gives you a unique touch to your message setup that non-Jailbreakers don’t have ;-p

Message Send Percent adds a percentage indicator to the label above the send bar that shows the current progress. The actual percentage appears next to the label that says, “Sending…”

As the message sends, you will see  the percentage dynamically updates….. 10% 11% etc etc. When the message is sent, you will see it reach 100% at that time the indicator will flash and then the sending indicator disappears from view like normal.

Sound good? You want it? Let’s get you hooked up then

• On your iPhone, head over to Cydia and ‘search‘ Message Send Percent 

• In the top right corner hit the ‘install’ button

• When prompted hit ’Restart Springboard’

• Once re-sprung  you will see that there are NO new added configurations for you to setup! It’s easy as sending a message as the tweak is now ready to show off it’s awesomeness! So go ahead and test it out!

• See how you now have the % when sending messages?! Looks cool right!?

So here’s the scenario  I go to my local bar where I don’t know the WiFi password but have used it before on my iPhone, so my iPhone connects straight away but my poor iPad Mini is left in a state of shock with no WiFi access , So what do I do? I head straight to Cydia on my iPhone and search for an app/Tweak that could possibly help me out. After 3 minutes of looking I’ve found what I’ve been looking for!!!! This App I found isn’t a new one and shocked that I didn’t already have this installed on my iPhone, this little gem is called; WiFi Passwords

What WiFi Passwords does is displays all the saved WiFi passwords you have entered when connecting to a secure network onto your iPhone or iPad! Pretty cool right?! It’s VERY handy if you need to tell a friend a password for where he is where you’ve been or connecting another device like me.

Sure you might be thinking, why don’t I ask the bartender for the password, but sometimes it’s just hassle especially if they speak a different language or if the place is packed out! I’m only using my scenario as an example, but this can be used anywhere.

Interested in getting hooked up with this awesome App?

• Head over to Cydia and search for; WiFi Passwords 

• Hit ‘Install’

• Hit ‘Return to Cydia’ then hit the ‘Home button’

• Now on your springboard, you will that WiFi Passwords has installed an App, open it up!

• Now it’s open you will see all the WiFi Locations and passwords you have saved on your iDevice,Depending on how many WiFi’s you have hooked up to depends on how many will show.

• As you can see, I have quiet a few ;-p

That’s it!!! Your ready to hook up and new iDevice to any of your saved WiFi areas you use on your alternative iDevice.

This App really helped me out while I was away, and I can see this being very handy to have from now on, not only because it’s awesome but it’s also FREE!!!!

Using Velox is easy. All you have to do is swipe up or down on the app that you want to open the quick access to and it opens like a folder (to close just click outside of the interaction area like opening a folder). You can then view the contents of different apps in different ways. For example the weather app:

See here you can view your timeline layout for the weather of the day. There are other applications that can use the same technique but they are all created different for each application. Here are some more examples:

Not all applications have full access to Velox’s quick access and there will be more support for more apps as time goes by. For everything that doesn’t have access yet, Velox will show the notifications for the app if there are any. This way Velox will help you simplify and make viewing your notifications easier.

Velox is available in the Cydia Store for $1.99 and it is a great tweak that is a great monument to what can be created by the dev community for iOS that Apple won’t implement into iOS itself. What will the Jailbreak Community come up with next?
