Apple has recently released iOS 6.1.3 which has patched exploits used for the evasi0n jailbreak.
So don’t be upgrading to iOS 6.1.3 anytime soon !
Although I’ve mentioned this about 50 times over the last month, there are still so many who accidentally upgraded their devices.
Even if there is no official iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak released, there is still a way to jailbreak your iOS 6.1.3 device.
The iOS 6.1.3 semi-tethered jailbreak uses the former Redsn0w tool in combination with iOS 6.0 firmware to get the task accomplished.
Lets show you how to jailbreak, boot tethered, and how to apply the semi-untethered patch.
Let’s go over the tutorial.
This jailbreak is compatible on ALL A4 Apple devices.
If you’re still on any previous release of iOS 6, you can still jailbreak any of the following
using the evad3r’s evasi0n tool, see our guide and video here.
Step 1. You need to get the right tools, grab the latest version of redsn0w from the link at the top of this article, and download iOS 6.0 for your device from our firmware page
Step 2. Open Redsn0w, click “Extras”, then click Select IPSW
Step 3. Select your iOS 6.0 firmware file you downloaded in step 1
Step 4. Now go back to the main screen and hit the Jailbreak button
Step 5. Follow the instructions and put your device into DFU mode, if you need help click here
Step 6. Redsn0w will show you a popup, select Cydia and make sure Install custom bundles is NOT checked and click ok
Let Redsn0w run and finish.
Next, we lets boot it into tethered mode.
Step 7. Close Redsn0w
Step 8. Open Redsn0w and again goto “extras” and again select IPSW and iOS 6.0
Step 9. Now this time instead of jailbreak we’re going to select just boot.
Step 10. Again put your device into DFU mode, when Redsn0w recognizes it in DFU mode, it will proceed and boot your device.
You are now booted in Jailbreak Tethered mode and should now be able to start Cydia and get full jailbreak functionally without the reboot part
When you reboot your device you need to go through steps 7 – 10 again to boot your device, otherwise you will be stuck on the Apple boot logo.
You can apply the semitethered patch also.
So, let’s install Semi-Untether
Step 11. Start Cydia > Manage > Sources and add “http://thebigboss.org/semitether/” to your repository list
Step 12. Now search for SemiTether in Cydia and install it, once completed respring your device.
The patch will allow your device to actually boot without steps 7-10.
The problem with this however, no Jailbreak apps will work until you do a proper boot with Redsn0w again.
Still better then nothing, and at least wont leave you stranded, when you are away from the computer.
