Ok, it’s that time. Time to release the next big addition to our Jailbreak Matrix website.
This part is what i like to call ‘Your Cydia Repo List’
Let me start from the beginning. I originally got into the iPhone scene on the launch date for the iPhone 3G. I created a website called iPhone3G-Mods.com. This site held my first contribution to the jailbreak community, the master cydia / rock sources list.
What is a cydia source ? A cydia sources is a web url that when added will enable a user to download more apps/games/mods/themes/ringtones from cydia to your iDevice. The list was updated by myself about every 3 months, it was bookmarked by many as it grew to over 10,000 backlinks.
the list can be seen at
Since then, the Cydia list has been referenced on a load of forums, iphone sites, and even some Wikis. And copied by many claiming as their own.
Example is FunkySpaceMoney or FSM
http://www.funkyspacemonkey.com/cydia-sources
pretty much when you search for any of my descriptions in google with quotes around it such as
“Cydia Sources / unix utils / cycorder / hacks”
you will find all the sites who copy and pasted my content, and most without back-links, fakers !
Either way, my iPhone3G-Mods site stayed on top as it was referenced the most times. I gave up on this site, when Cydia started to run like crap on the 3G when the 3GS launched, because it was just too slow to handle the new cydia installer. I still loved my phone and mods, but cydia just ran like crap.
Since now everyone in my family is on a new iDevice, we all like trying new apps all the time, esp my 5 year old son. I’ve been searching everywhere to find new cydia sources, and i can’t find anything except for my content that has been copied. This list was last updated feb of last year, so who knows if the sources even work. I’m not about to go through 50, 1 by 1 to see if they are valid. So i though to my self there has to got to be a better way. I mean you jailbreak to get Cydia right ? well what do you do when you get cydia? you add sources to get more stuff. Well you need to find these sources quickly and there is no way to do this.
After some design, I came up with :
‘Your Cydia Repo List’
Let me explain how it works.
Click ‘Your cydia repo list’ and you will get an up to date list of all the current approved listed sources.
You will see that the sources are split by category and sorted from highest score to lowest.
You will also see when the repo has been added, and when it has been last verified. This is so that you’re not adding sources that haven’t been verified over a year, and wasting your time, and getting errors.
You will also see a link at the top that allows you to submit any sources we have missed. We will test each one before they are added to the list, why ? So that we know it works, simple. We will also stop all the spam submissions, this way.
You will also notice a bump button next to each source.

This button will bring you to a page where you can vote on the source. Only vote if you have added the repo so that we know, you verified it, and it’s alive. This is very important as it will help me keep a clean list, which is always up to date for you our readers. I know what sources are good, I’m doing this to help you, so you don’t have to go through the pain of looking through google for hours on end.
You don’t have to be registered to bump a source, or even to submit a source.
You can only bump a repo once.
I have started the list by going through the first 10 pages of google and added each source to my iPhone 4 and tested it, verifying they are all up and giving them brief descriptions. This took 3 days of research and testing, not fun.
Note : Let me make this straight, i will add all sources that are up and running, i will not filter if you host installous of other apps. Why because installous is an app i use all the time. I wouldn’t need to if i had access to my paid apps, but apple blocks all my accounts within a week, locking out all the apps i’ve paid for, not very fair. So for this reason my screening process is simple, Cydia repo up and tested, it goes on the list.
Now I need some help from you, if you like the repo, bump it, share your knowledge with others, it’s what I do here.
If you see any missed sources, submit it, and we’ll add it.
I will make this the primary headquarters for all the cydia repo sources out there for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touchs etc.
if you have second click the facebook like link at the top, as i have more great things coming to this jailbreak community of 10+ million, this is just getting started, with iPads out and new versions coming, and apple tv joining, we’re going to see a big growth.
Enjoy
