Today I’m going to show you how to unlock your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3Gs on firmware 5.0.1 using the new Ultrasn0w 1.2.5
Ultrasn0w supports the following basebands
- 01.59.00
- 04.26.08
- 05.11.08
- 05.12.01
- 05.13.04
- 06.15.00
If you don’t know which baseband you have on your device, simply go into your settings menu on your iPhone then hit general -> about -> and scroll down and look at the modem firmware, this is your baseband version
If you meet the above criteria we can continue.
First, you will need to download a few things,
- redsn0w from our previous article
- iphone 4 firmware from our firmware download page
- and make sure you have the newest iTunes installed
Assuming you have everything downloaded and ready on your desktop, and your iPhone is connected, we can continue.
Step 1. Start up redsn0w, select the extras button, select custom ipsw, then select the firmware that you downloaded
Redsn0w will start building your custom ipsw firmware upgrade file, you need this file because it will allow you to upgrade to 5.0.1 without upgrading your baseband
Step 2. Put your device into DFU mode, if you need instructions click here.
Step 3. Open iTunes and select to restore your iPhone with the custom firmware, do this by holding the Option key on the Mac or the Shift key on Windows while clicking the restore button.
Step 4. Once you restore, you will be jailbroken, you will need to boot tethered to make sure cydia is working. Now open Cydia and add the following source : http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com, if you need to find out how to add a cydia source click here.
Step 5. Let cydia refresh with the new source, the click search at the bottom and search for ‘ultrasn0w’, select and install
You now have a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1
