How to install iOS 7 without a Developer account

So everyone is pretty excited about Apple’s newly announced iOS 7 beta from a couple of days ago.

And I bet you want to try it out ?

One problem, Apple restricts beta testing to paid developer only. You can purchase an activation spot from a few of the sellers around, however this violates Apples T&S.

So, don’t want to pay the UDID activation fees, but want to try the new iOS ? No Problem.

A personal contact of mine, aka my bro just discovered that you can install iOS 7 on your iPhone or iPad without a developer account.

Here is the secret.

Don’t restore to iOS 7, update¬†instead.

So here are the steps.

1. Download iOS 7 from the web, trust me it’s out there you just have to find it.

2. Instead of Restore click the “check for update” button in iTunes while holding shift in windows or the option key on OSX

3. Select your downloaded iOS 7 firmware and let iTunes update your device to Apple’s newest iOS :)

That’s it

* Keep in mind, going to iOS 7, you are giving up your jailbreak on any A5+ device since you can’t downgrade to a jailbreakable iOS version. You can only downgrade to iOS 6.1.4.

note : If you have problems updating because you were jailbroken, you must restore to stock 6.1.4, activate, then update to 7 using the latest iTunes.

Doing this bypasses the initial activation and thus allows you to use the new beta like all the developers :)

That’s it, enjoy testing the fruity iOS 7.
