Yesterday we’ve showed you how you can use your backup files to mod / hack your iPhone 4S and iPad 2 without the need of jailbreak to add the panorama feature to the camera. Today another hack has surfaced, but this time it allows you to enable the auto correction suggestions in iOS 5 on any device without the need of a jailbreak.
You can do this in windows or osx so its up to you.
I’ll give you the write up and the video, so there no excuse you can’t do this yourself.
You will need to have iTunes installed as well as iBackupBot. The demo works fine as you just need to edit one file.
now we’re ready to go.
1. Connect your iPhone 3GS,4, 4S or iPad 1 or 2 to your computer and fire up iTunes, then right click on the device and click backup, this will run a backup on your device
2. Once backup is complete, shut down iTunes and fire up iBackupBot
3. iBackupBot will automatically find your backup and list it in the left pane, click on your backup, you should be able to find it by the date
4. When you open the backup by selecting it, you will see a bunch of files, search for
com.apple.keyboard.plist and open it, click cancel during the demo popup
5. Add the following line of code
<key>KeyboardAutocorrectionLists</key>
<string>YES</string>
where i did in my video.
Then hit save, and close the editor window.
6. Now back to iBackupBot window and right click on the backup in the left pane again and select restore and let the software restore your backup.
Your device will reboot and the suggestions will start to show up anywhere you see a keyboard and start typing. Its right above the keyboard.
