Once you have Jailbroken your Apple TV, whether is via Seas0npass  or Sn0wbreeze, you are going to need to start adding packages to it to get the most out of the Jailbroken state your Apple TV is in.

Recently there has been an influx in new and cool software packages which you can use to transfer all kinds of goodies to your Apple TV.

We are concentrating on one of the 1st tools to be available to the public, aTVFlash.

In mid-2008, FireCore released the aTVFlash software, which gives the Apple TV support for other media formats, a web browser, external USB hard drive support, and lots more. Back then it supported the 1st Generation of the Apple TV. After Apple released the Apple TV 2G, aTVFlash also got the update. aTVFlash has become a powerhouse in the user friendly software package that unleashes the inner beast of a Jailbroken Apple TV.

All sounds awesome right?!

Well, there is a small fee for this amazing package, $29.95.

You may be thinking that it’s a tad expensive, but trust us, it isn’t. The amount of work the guys at FireCore put into software like this is un-imaginable, so for $29.95 (a one off payment for life) you are getting a lot! With every update from FireCore for aTVFlash, you get it to, don’t think that what version you have paid for is what you’re stuck with, it doesn’t work like that.

The FireCore Supported Media formats are;

aTVFlash is a tool for everyone, whether you are a confident and regular Jailbreaker or you’re a novice and feel less confident in your the abilities. FireCore provides excellent support, whether it’s by email or twitter, they are always on hand to help.

So…… you have read all the boring stuff, You want to know what you’re getting for your money.

Well, let’s go through some of the awesomeness your getting, starting with Couch Surfer.

Couch Surfer is a web browser written using the WebKit rendering engine and provides a web experience on the AppleTV like no other. You can browse  through web pages, save and load bookmarks, and even enter URL’s using an on-screen keyboard, we have also tried and tested watching YouTube videos via CouchSurfer, and it work’s perfectly.

Next up has to be XBMC, the powerhouse of media content. XBMC is a free and open source media player application developed by the XBMC Foundation. This is where you can play and watch all types of media content in most formats. This is the ultimate Media centre for your Jailbroken Apple TV, and this is where you will be most interacted with. If you didn’t know, XBMC is a non-profiteering organisation, so massive props to these guys.

The popular Last.Fm is also on hand for you, with the worlds largest online music catalogue at the end of your fingertips, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to radio, Music,  videos and  photo’s.All you need to do is sign up and that’s it, all your content will be streamed to you for FREE.

The last Add-on from aTVFlash that we will touch on is RSS Feeds, probably one of the more useful plugins you get from this package, you can keep up to date with all your news that you wish to add from various blogs, news channels and so on and obviously making sure you keep up to date with us here at Jailbreakmatrix with all the latest news.

ATVflash also enables you to play content over SMB without conversion, This is the main reason we purchased it! :-)

So, we have gone through a few of the Plugin’s you get from aTVFlash, so now’s the time to decide, is this worth the money?

In our eyes, a massive YES! Look what you have just read, you’re getting all of this plus more as a “one click” installation to your Apple TV once Jailbroken. Software like this take a long time and a lot of work to put together, months and months of beta testing, so for a consumer like us paying a small donation of $29.95 for all their hard work and time, it’s a no brainer situation, the more you support the Dev’s the more you will get out of Jailbroken devices, so get your money out!
