Hi Guys,
As we all know, when the new iPhone 4S came out, the feature everyone (and Apple) were talking about was its new function Siri.
Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, make phone calls and more.
Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean and even talks back…
Well now, a new App has been released called EVI, best of all it works on all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches.
EVI was released on January 23rd, please note that Evi is still in beta.
Most of the important functions seem to be working. Users simply open the app, press the microphone icon and start talking.
Evi can answer basic factual questions, guide users to relevant websites, call up requested Google maps, or even find recipes!
EVI costs $0.99c (£0.69p UK) from the App Store, this is well worth it if you do not have an iPhone 4S and want to experience the nearest thing to Siri.
Also it’s important to know, out that Siri and Evi, while similar on what they do, have very different code running on the back end.
Siri has its own natural language processing originally developed at SRI in Silicon Valley (Apple acquired it a few years back).
EVI hasn’t got off to the best of starts in the reviews, but I’ve heard that an update is coming soon…so watch this space!
There are mixed feelings about EVI, but I feel as the updates come, the app will get better and better…
So…is this app worth it?
Have you tried it?
Let us know your thoughts about EVI
