Today i want to share a quick tip on how you can use an old $50 iPod touch to add the Apples Air play feature to any device. Apple’s Air Play allows you to stream music between your apple devices over wifi.

Although this is an awesome feature, many have great systems already setup at home and really don’t see a point to upgrading just to add Air play.  Some new devices such as iPhone docks or Home receivers do support the feature on the market however you have to pay a heafty price tag along with that. Well now there is a cheap alternative, called Air Speaker.

This 99 cent app allows you to use an old iPod, iPhone or new if you would like and use it as a Air Play receiver. This means it will show up as a AirPlay device on all your Airplay compatible products. Simply start it up and see it appear on your other device and in iTunes. You can them simply select the device and steam to it without any hassle.  Connect your iPod or iPhone via the dock or 1/8″ headphone jack and start steaming. There is no jailbreak required and you can find cheap iPods with either broken buttons, or headphone hack,  or glass or something else on ebay for 30-50$.

Check out the demo below.
