What is JailbreakCon ?
We are the @JailbreakCon team, we are the only Jailbreak convention to grace the earth. In 2011 we ran our first event MyGreatFest in London, last year we ran our second event @JailbreakCon in San Francisco and this year people we are bringing you a 2 day event and it will be in New York City. Today we get to give you a sneak peak at Abstergo.
Abstergo is a new intuitive Cydia app developed by Andrew Richardson and Joshua Tucker, that takes your iOS notifications to the next level. Abstergo will be available in the Cydia store on April 21st for $1.99, that's this Sunday !
Although Apple's stock notification system has been around since iOS 5, there are still some key features that I believe the big A have missed. Abstergo closes the gaps and gives you a little more.
To install you simply head over to Cydia search for Abstergo and install, that's it ! No settings, no changes, just install, pretty simple.

First thing Abstergo addresses, is the lack of being able to clear all your notifications at once.

Apple has recently released iOS 6.1.3 which has patched exploits used for the evasi0n jailbreak. :(
So don't be upgrading to iOS 6.1.3 anytime soon !
Although I've mentioned this about 50 times over the last month, there are still so many who accidentally upgraded their devices.
Even if there is no official iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak released, there is still a way to jailbreak your iOS 6.1.3 device.
The iOS 6.1.3 semi-tethered jailbreak uses the former Redsn0w tool in combination with iOS 6.0 firmware to get the task accomplished.
Lets show you how to jailbreak, boot tethered, and how to apply the semi-untethered patch.

Evasi0n was released on the 4th of February 2013 and quickly became one of the most successful jailbreaks ever released. Used over 7 million times in only 5 days, this jailbreak is monumental as it marked the first for two new iOS devices – the iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Since the release, a massive 18.2 million iOS devices have been jailbroken according to data given by @saurik

It's been an exciting couple of months.
Since the release of the evasi0n jailbreak from the evad3rs group, cydia activity has sky rocketed.
New Apps, new Tweaks, new Themes and more customization. This can't get any more exciting, especially for a geeky techie like myself.
Everyday, while I do my internet run I come across so many crazy iOS themes, and some amazing creativity.
I love seeing all the new stuff, and I'm sure my followers would to !
My sources for these custom snaps are pretty much all over, twitter, facebook, google, rss, etc. Even though for me scouting is an everyday thing, most users just don't have the time to do this on a daily basis.
So I though, why not build an App ?

Just last night Apple released iOS 6.1.3 to the public.
The iOS 6.1.3 update was released to address a few issues, including the passcode lock vulnerability that allowed some users to bypass the iOS lock screen.
What's horrible though, is Apple has also patched the exploits used in the evasi0n tool.
This means we can no longer jailbreak our iOS 6.1.3 devices using evasi0n. BOO !
So, DO NOT UPDATE TO 6.1.3 if you want to have a jailbreak. For now just stay on 6.1.2 or whatever you are on, until you get further updates from us about future jailbreak support.

We got some great news folks !
Senator Ron Wyden has reportedly re-introduced the "Wireless Device Independent Act". The new bill will finally allow users to unlock their cellphones, and choose a cell carrier of their choice.
In 2006, the DMCA ( Digital Millenium Copyright Act ), was introduced, which made cellphone unlocking illegal. The congress has issued a number of exceptions for cellphone unlocking, however that stopped in January of this year. Any cellphone purchased after Jan 2013, cannot be legally unlocked.
Failure to acquire another exception, the community came together and started a petition, we got a total of 114,000 signatures.
Yesterday the White House announced they would support "narrow legislative fixes" to legalize the practice. !!!

Ok, I usually don't get excited too much about Cydia tweaks, but this one has me pumped !
Yesterday I finally got to install BatteryDoctorPro, a free Cydia tweak for your iOS device, and after 24 hours, I'm stoked to report my feedback.
BatteryDoctorPro is much more then just a battery meter.
This is one hell of an App.
From shortcut toggles, to different battery profiles, to app usage tracking, this app has it all !

Apple has released iOS 6.1.2 to the public in the last few days, and it seems like the exploits used in evasi0n still work !
The @evad3rs have released an updated version 1.4 of evasi0n to make it iOS 6.1.2 compatible.
The tutorials is almost identical as our last one but lets go over it one more time.

Step 1 : First thing ...

A few days ago Apple released iOS 6.1.1 to iPhone 4S users around the world. As always, many iPhone 4S owners have upgraded their device and lost their ability to jailbreak yet again.
But don't worry !
Although the desktop evasi0n tool was incompatible with iOS 6.1.1, the vulnerabilities that were used for the evasi0n jailbreak were not patched up.
Today, the evad3rs team have updated their evasi0n tool to version 1.3. This upgrade is specifically for those owners who upgraded their iPhone 4S by accident to 6.1.1
For now version 1.3 only supports iOS 6.1.1 on the iPhone 4S, but I'm hoping that once the rest of iOS 6.1.1 is released, the tool will still be compatible.

Today I want to show you a cool tweak by the name of iCallAnswer.
This app will turn heads :) Trust me.
Well if you own an iPhone, I'm going to show you a very useful tweak that will allow you to receive all your SMS/Call/Twitter notifications without even picking up your phone.
Imagine if you're working on the car, cleaning the dishes, or exercising, your hands are usually full and possibly dirty. So picking up your phone everytime you get a notification can be kinda frustrating. Your iPhone might get dirty or even worst wet. I know you might be thinking, just wait till you're done. But most people, including myself don't have the luxury to wait and answer later. We have kids and on-call jobs and each notification has to be checked all the time.

Hey guys,
Just wanted do a quick how-to today. Many may find this VERY useful, especially in the next few days since everyone is installing all their favorite Cydia tweaks.
A few days ago, the long awaited #evasi0n jailbreak people have been waiting for was finally released. We covered this in our 2 how to guides , How to Jailbreak any iPhone using #evasi0n [video] & How to Jailbreak any iPad using evasi0n [video].
Since the release of evasi0n, people have been installing tweaks like no tomorrow. I'm getting tweeted about the compatibility issues from some of these tweaks, about every 10-15 minutes. Jailbreakers should remember that not all apps have been updated to iOS 6 yet, meaning some will cause your iPhone to crash or get stuck in a reboot loop, and most people end up restoring their devices, and starting fresh again.
So today i'll share a quick tip, on how to get your device back up and running without having to restore the whole iOS & rejailbreaking your device.

A lot of people are having a problem after jailbreaking with their Weather App not working.
The evad3rs are aware of the issue and working on the fix.
Meanwhile, I'll give you some instructions on how you can fix this yourself. I'm going to assume you know how to SSH into your device and run a few basic commands.
If you don't know what any of this means, you probably shouldn't be attempting this, and wait for a proper fix from the evad3rs.
So ....
Ok I've made a quick how to fix your weather app.
Step 1. make sure you have some SSH sofeware installed on your PC ( I'm using WINSCP in Windows )
Step 2. make sure you install OPENSSH from Cydia, its a free download

The time has finally come, the evasi0n jailbreak is upon us.
The evasi0n v1.0 jailbreak has been created by the recently formed team known as the @evad3rs. Lead by hacker @pod2g, the members include, @planetbeing, @pimskeks,and @musclenerd, the evad3rs created what seems to be the most anticipated jailbreak software to be released since the days I’ve joined the jailbreak scene, back in 2009.
This new jailbreak software goes by the name #evasi0n, and will brings everyone back into the jailbreak scene. The evasi0n jailbreak will also enable users with devices such as the iPad 4, iPad Mini, iPhone 5, and iPod Touch 5G, to enter the jailbreak game for the first time.

Many of us have been watching the evasi0n.com website today like hawk.
But in the last hour we got a tweet from @planetbeing about tomorrows release.
But when ? After the that tweet I noticed the progress bar start to move. First from 90 to 91 then from 91 to 92%.
Taking a look the source file for the website I noticed that the counter values changed from integers to real numbers. And every time I refreshed it would be different :)

This has got the be the most exciting weekend in jailbreak history !
First and foremost, tomorrow the evad3rs are going to officially release the iOS 6.0-6.1 jailbreak called 'evasi0n'.
This jailbreak will introduce quite a few devices for the first time into the world of Cydia, including the iPad mini, iPad 4, iPod 5, iPhone 5, and all other A5 devices that were upgrades to iOS 6.

Today, I would like to take a moment and talk about piracy.
I have a few concerns about YouTube and how piracy laws, don't apply to them.
I'm a regular YouTuber, I like to have my daily intake of the Tube. I like to see what videos are emerging out there, on our web. Everything from the latest tech reviews, to a funny fail compilations, I love every side of YouTube well at least I use to.
Lately, I've noticed a few things that have changed.
Over the past few months, I've been stumbling on more and more full featured films being listed in YouTube.
But how can that be you ask ?
Afterall YouTube is owned by Google, and Google is one of the most powerful identidies online. Youtube also rents movies on demand, so this can't be beneficial to their buisness.
